FAQ

  • Absolutely not! It is illegal for groomers to sedate animals. Pets requiring any form of sedation should be monitored closely by a veterinarian, therefore we do not accept animals sedated prior to appointment.

  • Your pets safety is always a priority at Grooming with Finesse. Most of the drying process is done by hand and cage dryers are not heated.

  • Well behaved dogs are able to lounge about the secured grooming area, allowing them the opportunity to socialize with other pets and staff. Dogs will be dogs and this can result in injury due to play, etc. If you are not comfortable with this, we will be happy to allow your pet to remain in a pet condo when not being handled by a staff member. Please be advised we will not assume responsibility for possible injury or stress to your pet while being cage free, however it is our promise to ensure every precaution will be taken to allow for a safe and comfortable experience.

  • Many people believe keeping more hair in the winter months will keep the pet warmer than a short coat. This is a common misconception. Long coats are harder to maintain, especially when they get wet from the snow. A matted coat takes much longer to dry than one that is tangle free. Matting occurs at the dog's skin and retains moisture and may causes bacteria growth, resulting in sore skin and infections. A shorter coat that is mat free is actually warmer for a pet, than one that is matted.

  • When a pet is at the spa, they are taken from their every day routine, this can be very exciting for some pets or stressful for others. Some will enjoy playing with other pets and often will be worn out by these emotions, needing a nap when they return home!

  • The most influential time in a puppy's life is the first three to four months. Once your puppy has received vaccinations and your vet advises it safe to come in contact with other pets, we recommend the first visit.

Your pets experience during this time will shape the behavior for the rest of their lives. It is critical the first association with a groomer be a positive one. The more frequently they experience a positive grooming session, the more comfortable they will become with the process, saving them years of anxiety and stress every time they visit the groomer.

A simple bath and a light trim is the perfect introduction to the first grooming process. It allows them to adapt to the sounds and excitement related to professional grooming.

  • Pet products have come a long way over the years. Pets are part of the family and indoors more now than ever, so we want them fresh all the time! For this reason products have changed and frequent bathing is no longer a concern to skin and coat, as long as quality products are applied and rinsed properly.

  • Well behaved cats are always welcome!
